A
Bad Trade Day
This ball documents what is considered to be one
of the most lopsided trades in baseball history:
speedy outfielder Lou Brock of the Cubs for St.
Louis Cardinal pitcher Ernie Broglio. The trade
occurred on June 15, 1964. Brock went on to have
over 3,000 hits and become the all-time leading
base stealer, surpassing Ty Cobb (in 1991, Brock's
record was broken by Rickey Henderson). Broglio
went on to win just seven more games in his career.
Everyone involved in that trade has signed this
ball. |
