Dizzy Dean Family Photo

This is the only known photograph of pitching great Dizzy Dean and his family. It was taken on May 13, 1923, seven years before Dizzy first pitched in the Major Leagues. Dizzy is upper left, his brother Elmer is center and his other brother, Paul “Daffy” Dean, is upper right. Dizzy and Paul pitched the 1934 “Gashouse Gang” Cardinals to the championship, winning 49 games between them, as Dizzy boldly predicted they would. At bottom left is Dizzy’s wife, Mrs. Jerome Dean. Center front is A.M. Dean, father of the Dean brothers and next to him is Mrs. Paul Dean.
