In 1975, the Boston Red Sox played in one of the
most exciting World Series of the modern era. Their
"ace" pitcher that year, with a whirling
dervish motion, was Luis Tiant -- one of the game's
most effective pitchers, winning 229 games in his
19-year career (1964-1982). This is the jersey he
wore during that magical 1975 season. Luis was known
for chewing tobacco while pitching and a tobacco
stain is visible beneath the letter "x"
on the jersey.
