A
Head's-Up Play
Jose Canseco was a powerful slugger during his
career (1986-2002, 462 home runs), but never a
great outfielder. On May 26, 1993, a fly ball
hit by the Indians' Carlos Martinez bounced off
Canseco's head and into the stands for a home
run.
This cap was worn by Canseco during the game.
After the game, angry at himself for his embarrassing
misplay, Canseco signed and wrote the date and
city in which the strange event took place on
the cap and, then, gave it away.
