My mother, Joan, called me one day in 1998.
She said: “did you see the Times crossword puzzle today?”
I used to do the New York Times crossword every day (except
Sunday) during the late 80s. My mother is an amazingly talented
Times crossword doer, so she says to me: “go check out
the puzzle today”. I look at it and I notice the clue
to 14 across is: “Tell______ My Heart” (1987 hit).
I remember thinking “wow, I made the Times crossword!”
